Medical Technology Awareness Week 2024

This theme of 2024’s MedTech Week was A Decade of Difference: The Impact of Medical Technology Today and Tomorrow.

A central theme of the NHS’s long term plan is the use of medical technology and digital transformation to create a health service fit for the future.

Guests heard from patients and industry members talk about the success and hurdles of this goal, focusing on the examples of innovation and medical technology that have the potential to be more widely implemented across the NHS.

Thie reception was hosted by Jim Shannon MP, with opening remarks by Dr Peter Prinsley MP.

The following speakers addressed the reception:

The focus for 2024:

The MTG has long worked to highlight the potential of medtech. Our 2017 Keeping Britain Working report demonstrated those technologies keeping patients out of hospital and saving the NHS money, while more recently our RationWatch series has highlighted examples of technology and innovation helping the NHS’s top performing regions.

With the NHS Ten Year Plan due next year, this event brought together parliamentarians, patients, innovators and industry members to discuss how we can use medical technology to meaningfully transform the NHS.

A range of existing and new technology was on display at the event.

Download our newsletter from the event, which highlights key discussions, insights, and reflections from our speakers and participants and shines a light on the Group’s key reports.
