Why join the Medical Technology Group?
Becoming a member of the MTG is a chance to work with our coalition to help realise the potential of medical technology in transforming the NHS and improving the lives of patients.
Our 50+ members regularly meet with clinicians, government bodies, and patient groups, gaining valuable insight into the latest developments and impact of medical technology while having their say in improving the NHS’s approach to medical technology and innovation.
Our recent achievements include:
- The launch of our 2024 Ration Watch report which was included in Lord Darzi’s independent investigation into the NHS.
- A report focusing on how medical technology can help reduce the elective backlog, with a spotlight on Community Diagnostic Centres and Surgical Hubs.
- Organising the Department of Health and Social Care’s Medical Technology Patient Engagement Forum.
- Responding to the latest consultations including the Major Conditions Strategy and the NHS Ten Year Plan.
In recent years, we have collaborated with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), the Department of Health and Social Care’s Medical Technologies Directorate, NHS England’s Transformation Directorate, as well as senior representatives of GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time), NHS England, NHS Supply Chain, the Royal College of General Practitioners, and the Royal College of Surgeons.
