MTG welcomes new Innovative Devices Access Pathway (IDAP)

The MTG welcomes last week’s announcement of a pilot for the new Innovative Devices Access Pathway (IDAP). The UK has some of the world’s most exciting innovators when it comes to medical technology, and this new pathway backed up by £10 million of funding, will help harness the benefits of innovation to improve patient outcomes and ease pressure on clinicians.

In our recent Deja Review report, we looked at how a single pathway for medical devices can learn from past mistakes of bringing the latest innovation and medical technology to the NHS.

The IDAP pathway, which offers tailored guidance and much needed priority clinical investigation, is a step in the right direction for providing a single pathway for medical technology into the NHS, overcoming the bottleneck we are seeing at the commissioning and adoption phase.

You can access the full recommendations from our latest report on how to create the best possible pathway for medical technology into the NHS here.
